It’s no surprise that the US economy has been struggling ever since the financial crisis came to a head back in August 2008. However, it still remains a surprise as to when the economy will be back in good health. There are many different predictions out there, but none of them seem too certain as to what the future holds. This week’s winning poll asked Pollbob users “How would you rate the economic conditions in the USA today?” And if the results are any sign of the times, things are not looking great, but could certainly be worse. An overwhelming 50% of users voted “somewhat poor”, while 28% voted very poor, and 22% said somewhat good. However, 0% of people rated the economic conditions as very good. Rumor on the street is that polling on Pollbob can single handedly reverse this negative trend, although nothing has been scientifically proven to date. Congrats to Carl L. The top poll this week was,  “Has this economy altered your spending habits?” The poll was created by Matt R., Godawgs2750. For some reason this question of spending under difficult circumstances reminded us of a memorable scene from the classic 90’s comedy, Dumb and Dumber, featuring our favorite idiot, Lloyd Christmas, spending the last of he and his roommate’s money.

The scene takes place early on in the movie after Harry and Lloyd return home to their dumpy apartment after both losing their jobs. Lloyd, played by Jim Carey, offers to go to the grocery store to pick up some necessities. Harry, Jeff Daniels, tells Lloyd to get the bare essentials. The movie then jumps ahead to Lloyd walking home from the grocery store with an oversized hat, a paddle toy, a case of beer, and a box full of pinwheels. All excellent choices in our opinion. No matter what side of this poll you’re on (affected or unaffected) we hope that you splurge on this kind of stuff occasionally. Laughter is truly one of the best remedies for life’s ills, as they say.
